Lunano is documented as a castle from the thirteenth century. Contended by Montefeltro and Brancaleoni, passed definitively to the first in 1424, until the advent of the Papal State.
Of the Ubaldini's ancient castle we can see the ruins of a tall tower and part of the walls. The main building of historical and artistic interest is the Franciscan Convent of Monte Illuminato, built on a hill.
