Located on the border with Umbria, which is only a few miles from the town, Apecchio is an ancient town of medieval origin, grown on the slopes of Monte Nerone, an area famous for its caving tours, for climbings sport and for his link with prehistory. In fact, in Apecchio there is the Museum of Minerals and Fossils of Monte Nerone which contains one of the finest collections of ammonites in Europe.
